NYT:  Following a Script to Escape a Nightmare.

In recent years, nightmares have increasingly been viewed as a distinct disorder, and researchers have produced a growing body of empirical evidence that this kind of cognitive therapy can help reduce their frequency and intensity, or even eliminate them.

The treatments are controversial. Some therapists, particularly Jungian analysts, take issue with changing nightmares’ content, arguing that dreams send crucial messages to the waking mind.

Nearing 100 posts on this blog, I’m going to begin adding a few entries now and then with an eye toward search engine results.  An experiment.  Hope they won’t be too distracting.  Things like, “Los Angeles Therapist.”

Psychotherapies

Maybe this is for therapists only, but take a look at Wikipedia’s long list of psychotherapies if you’ve got some time to kill and some curiosity about the different approaches to therapy that are out there.

The list goes from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (which I’ m a fan of) to Wilderness Therapy (haven’t tried).

The list skips several letters, so if you want to make a name in the therapy world, come up with something that starts with K, X, Y, or Z–you’ll stand alone.  Zootherapy, anyone?
